COGNITIVE ATTRIBUTES OF CONCEPTS «FAITH» AND «WIARA» IN RUSSIAN AND POLISH LANGUAGES

The author uses the methods of definitional analysis, semantic analysis of the lexical units of "вера" and "wiara" in connected and free combinations according to the dictionary of com- patibility and corpus of the Russian and Polish languages. When analyzing the phraseologi- cal, paremiological units and the compatibility of the representatives of the concept of "вера" in the Russian language, 20 cognitive attributes of this concept were revealed, while in the Polish language 34 cognitive attributes of the concept "Wiara" were found. The gen- eral cognitive and variative traits that distinguish these concepts are listed. The article con- cludes that that beliefs in both languages underwent two transformations, caused by social processes and reflected in lexicographic sources.
