This article is a summary of the results of a number of research expeditions carried out in the period from 2011 to 2018. in order to identify the main features of the preservation of the Russian language of migrants from Russia to the border areas of China in the first half of the 20th century. The object of the research is the oral speech of representatives of different generations of descendants of migrants from Russia to China, currently living in the border areas of Heilongjiang Province, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region and Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. In the course of the study, the ranges of residence of the descendants of Russian immigrants in frontier China were determined; it was established that the studied variant of the Russian language abroad has a dialectal basis and carries traces of interference under the influence of Chinese.
