Annotation:
The article deals with the character of the trickster represented by Jack Sparrow played by J. Depp in The Pirates of the Caribbean trilogy. The trickster’s qualities are being smart, immoral, prone to break laws and boundaries, having bad habits, being tricky, belonging to a laughter culture, mediation and being able to transform from life to death, having creative abilities of demiurge.As many tricksters, J. Sparrow is also cha- racteristic of having a “good core“. While realizing these qualities, the archetypal cha- racter - trickster played by J. Depp is performing entertaining, creative, psychotherapeu- tic, compensatory, correctional, entertaining and destructuring functions, and thus representing the unique tendencies in American contemporary society.
