Annotation:
This article is devoted to the analysis of samples of the Buryat oral poetry, which contain people's concepts and ideas about relevant values in the traditional society: family, home- land, work, love, friendship, etc.

The aphoristic poetry of the Buryats as one of the developed genres of folklore is an integral part of the spiritual culture and verbal richness of the ethnos. The analysis of the paremias based on the cultural and historical information makes it possible, to reveal the established values and significant representations of the ethnos about the person together with his prop- erties, qualities, activity, his attitude to the world, his understanding of the most important categories of the world picture.
Proverbs and sayings, representing a laconic summary of life experience of many genera- tions, the quintessence of folk wisdom, have been and remain one of the most important sources of knowledge about history and the traditional culture of the Buryats.
