The spatial organization of the system of urban settlements of Altai, Tyva and Khakassia requires detailed study, since it is impossible to reconstruct the history of urban formation in the region. The article reveals the factors that influenced the development of the system of urban settlements in the Altai-Sayan. The network of urban settlements in the region is characterized by an uneven distribution across the territory. Most of them are located in the east of Khakassia, on the border with Krasnoyarsky Kray, as well as in the central and western regions of Tyva. The urban structure in the republics has linear and point forms. It is noted that the region is characterized by a high agglomeration potential. Transformation of the settlement system in the region is one of the significant results of its urbanization.
