THE SYSTEM OF PUBLIC AND POLITICAL SECURITY IN THE DEMOCRATIC PEOPLE'S REPUBLIC OF KOREA IN THE CONTEXT OF CULTURAL AND INFORMATION GLOBALIZATION

The article describes the methods of ensuring public and political security rele- vant to the current period of development in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK). The author notes that the political structure of modern DPRK society dictates spe- cial approaches to preserving cultural uniqueness and the established political architecture. The development of telecommunications technologies worldwide accelerates the spread of information, initiating processes of cultural exchange. These processes can have a seriously negative impact on the political system of modern DPRK. The total information control over information flows by the DPRK government results in a shortage of objective information about how population control is actually implemented. Using materials from the media of both the DPRK and the Republic of Korea, the author reveals the features of state-society interaction and describes the system of public security and the preservation of the existing political structure in the DPRK.
