The article substantiates the relevance of e-learning environment application for train- ing specialists according to the requirements of Russian modern economy. We analyze modern approaches to the concept of e-learning environment and given its basic prop- erties, which allow organizing effective independent work of students. The experiment has been carried out to study the possibilities of e-learning environment Moodle in or- ganization of independent work of Buryat State University students within the discip- line "Methods of Teaching History". The experimental work allows us to estimate the efficiency of students’ independent work in e-learning environment.
