BOTANICAL RESEARCH IN BURYAT STATE UNIVERSITY: HISTORY, ACHIEVEMENTS AND PROSPECTS

Annotation. The article gives a retrospective review of the botanical studies of Baikal Sibe- ria, covering the period of post-war time to the present day. The history of resource research of plant resources is associated with the names of teachers of the Department of Botany of the Buryat State Pedagogical Institute — V. A. Svyatogor and N. G. Krasnopevtsev. Eco- logical-biomorphological and cenopopulation studies are associated with the names of P. M. Kuriganova, L. K. Bardonova. Floristic-geobotanical and botanical-geographical stud- ies were started by M. A. Reschikov, K. M. Bogdanova and continued B. B. Namzalov and his students. The scientific school "Ecology and geography of vegetation", created by him, develops the following directions: 1. Ecological-biomorphological research with analysis of physiological, structural-morphological and cenopopulation parameters of phytosystems;
2. Floristic research with analysis of the system of the most representative genera, consid- eration of their genesis and neoendemism; 3. Geobotanical studies with the analysis of phy- tocenotic diversity and the spatial-structural organization of vegetation cover.
