Under the conditions of increasing deterioration in the quality of surface water used for drinking water supply, the strategic task is the transition to groundwater as a source of providing the population with drinking water of stable quality. The transition to the con- sumption of groundwater as drinking water must comply with all the requirements of regula- tory and technical documentation, including sanitary and chemical indicators. The article presents the results of monitoring the ecological state of groundwater in Ulan-Ude in the conditions of sporadic individual housing construction, non-approved use of groundwater as drinking water, as well as uncontrolled discharge of wastewater into drained soils.
