Annotation:
The Red Book of the Republic of Buryatia has undergone three editions (1988; 2002-2005; 2013). The release of the 4th edition is expected in 2023. The 31 of which 3rd edition included 93 bird species, of which 31 were representatives of the Red Book of the Russian Federation. They were classified by rarity status as follows: regionally rare, includ- ing representatives from the Red Book of the Russian Federation (3NT) – 68 (49.4% of all species), vulnerable, decreasing in number (2VU) – 5 (5.4%), uncertain status (4DD) – 3 (3.2%), recovering (5KK) – 3 (3.2%), rare with irregular presence (6) – 2 (2.1%).
The updated list of the 4th edition will include 106 species. Among them will be presented regionally rare species, including representatives from the Red Book of the Russian Federa- tion (3NT) – 69 (65.1% of all species), vulnerable, decreasing in number (2VU) – 8 (7.5%), uncertain status (4DD) – 2 (1.8%), recovering (5KK) – 6 (5.6%), rare with irregular pres- ence (6) – 5 (4.7%), not endangered in the Republic of Buryatia but included in the Red Books of the Russian Federation, Mongolia and neighboring regions (7) – 2 (1.8%).
