Annotation:
The article presents the materials on finds of rare (Red Book) species of animals, primarily mammals, in recent years, provided by Burpriroda protection inspectors, for inclu- sion the information on distribution in the 4th edition of The Red Book of the Republic of Buryatia (2023). For each species, we have given data on the current state of populations in the area under study, sightings in the protected areas, primarily in the natural park of regional significance "Shumak", described in detail the locations of finds of one bird species and three mammals: the Altai snowcock (Tetraogallus altaicus Gebler, 1836), Ikonnikov's bat (Myotis ikonnikovi Ognev, 1912), and Siberian ibex (Capra sibirica Pallas, 1776). Information on some species is new and increases knowledge of the range of the described species in the eastern part of the Eastern Sayan and, in general, in the Republic of Buryatia. These findings raise again the question of organizing a protected area in Oka district of the Republic of Buryatia as a significant integral part of the Altai-Sayan ecoregion.
