ASSESSMENT OF THE ACTIVITIES OF DOMESTIC AGRICULTURAL BUSINESS IN THE LIVESTOCK SECTOR: CONTEMPORARY CHALLENGES AND COURSE OF DEVELOPMENT

The development of agricultural production is based on the need to ensure the independence and food security of the country. Economic sanctions against Russia will intensify, thereby agribusiness industry needs to prepare to the risks and find ways to eliminate them. The article deals with the issues related to the efficiency of production of the livestock sector in the Russian agriculture. We have studied the dynamics of population of major livestock species in the Russian Federation both in general for all categories of agricultural producers, and broken down by the main categories of farm business: agricultural organizations, peasant (farm) holdings, individual entrepreneurs, and owner- operated farms. We have given an assessment of the production of main livestock products in the Russian Federation in farms businesses of all categories over the last twenty years, and proposed the course of development of the livestock sector.
