The article is devoted to the actual problem of innovative development — the develop- ment of methodological and methodical toolkit of short-term forecasting of domestic spending on research and development. The aim is to improve the methods of short-term forecasting, taking into account a substantial differentiation of subjects of the Russian Federation in terms of socio-economic development. The subject of research is the method for predicting the value of the cost of research on refined typological groups of regions.
