The article considers labor resources as a basis for development of any region. We have studied the methods of labor resource analysis: Information and analytical sys- tems “Monitoring, QUMMIR Model, Methods of The Agency of Labor Statistics; Methodology of Labor Force Forecasting Laboratory — Institute of Economic Fore- casting of Russian Academy of Sciences. Each method has a number of shortcomings, which have been minimized by using simulation in the most effective system IBS “Expertiza”. Based on this system, we have analyzed the dynamics of population em- ployed in such spheres as "Agriculture, Forestry, Hunting, Fishing and Fish Farming", "Construction", "Wholesale and Retail Trade", "Education" in the Republic of Burya- tia. The study of labor resources in the dynamics and according to the types of activi- ties and education have shown that trade has a positive dynamics in terms of employ- ment in the Republic of Buryatia.
