The article refers to the need for introduction of a list of measures and changes in the system of state support for small business from the point of ensuring its high quality. We have considered the existing methods of organizing state support for small busi- ness at the federal and regional levels, and presented the results of assessing their ef- fectiveness. In the article we propose the recommendations for improving the quality of the system of state support, based on a new classification of small and medium- sized businesses and introduction of uniform quality standards of the services of state support for micro and small businesses.
