Annotation:
The article subject is the description and typology of such frequency phenomena of oral speech as repetitions, which arise in the speaker’s speech unintentionally, as a result of hesi- tation or choosing the necessary language unit or, if necessary, correction of the mistake. Two types of repetitions peculiar exclusively for oral speech are reviewed: repetition-hesitation and repetition-correction. The material for the study includes 22 oral monologues in Russian, which were recorded from speakers of three foreign languages — French, Dutch and Italian. All informants told a story on a given topic: “Your impressions of St. Petersburg”. The paper proposes a number of criteria for building a typology of such repetitions: 1) what exactly is repeated (repetition of a word or a fragment of a phrase — for both types of repetitions; 2) the nature of correction — correct or incorrect (anti-correction); 3) the time of introduc- tion of correction into the text (online or offline). This analysis could expand the knowledge about hesitation phenomena in interfering oral speech and, in general, about the specifics of constructing a monologue in a non-native language.
