The article examines the peculiarities of the spread of Buddhism among the Bur- yats and its influence on epic creativity of the Western and Eastern ethnic groups. The activ- ity of Tibetan Buddhists to promote the doctrine is characterized as the basis for its wide- spread dissemination among Mongolian nomads in the 17th and 18th centuries. It is con- cluded that the uligers of the Western Buryat tradition broadcast the ideas of “folk” Bud- dhism, which is the most elementary information about this religion.
