Annotation:
The article is devoted to the problem of reconstruction of the Siberian spatial picture of the world of the 17th century and its objectification in the speech of Russian pioneers. As one of the ways to solve it we have proposed a cognitive and semantic analy- sis of verbal and nominal lexical units, expressing the real and mental development of the Siberian space during that period. Three regional historical dictionaries are the source of the spatial vocabulary sample. We have revealed the regularity of the Siberian space representation with the help of verbal lexical units, which reflect its understanding as an active movement of Russian people across the discovered lands and their develop- ment. It is determined that the nominative vocabulary expresses the vision of a concrete, independently developed space of Siberia and a pragmatic assessment of its suitability for a settled life. We have noted the importance of lexical word-formation relations in the explication of space. It is affirmed the productivity of the anthropocentric cognitive aspect of the study of historical lexicology of the 17th century along with the historical-cultural and structural-system approaches to the study of the history of Old Russian vocabulary.
