Annotation:
The article deals with the problem of students’ adaptation to learning at university.
We considered the concept «adaptation», its structure and forms, identified the features of this process in high school. To find out the main difficulties of freshmen’s adaptation the external and internal factors were examined. We defined a set of psychological and pedagogical conditions for effective adaptation of students at the initial stage of learning: psycho-pedagogical diagnostics; development of elective courses, aimed at formation of constructive cooperation skills, autonomy, reflection; correction of programs for block 1 disciplines, which should include information about organization of the learning process in high school, forms of current, intermediate and final control, students’ independent work, etc; integrating efforts of Curators Institute, Faculty Office, Student Government, students and parents; introduction of measures aimed at development of youth’s initiatives (volunteer movement, charitable). Study of the problem allows us to conclude that the process of adaptation is complicated, controlled and targeted at creating conditions for socialization, selfrealization and personal development of each student.
