Annotation:
The article deals with the peculiarities of work with gifted children having health
and developmental disabilities. We considered the problems concerning the understanding
of mental abilities, talents, various creative gifts of children with physical and mental disabilities.
The presented theoretical and practical material is an attempt to change the existing
stereotypes in identifying gifted children with disabilities and their further creative development.
The traditional approach in work with children of this category implies "averaging"
of their learning outcomes and ignoring of individual peculiarities, as a result many
talents of children may loss already at school. The new generation of teachers should be
able to recognize every gifted child, including those who have health and developmental
disabilities, and to find the effective methods of work with him.
Special attention was paid to the alternative approaches to pedagogical work with
gifted children having physical disabilities and difficulties in creative development. This
approach will be of interest to teachers and specialists in the field of special education.
