FYODOR DOSTOYEVSKY’S ETHNOTYPOLOGY IN THE POEM "THE TWELVE" BY ALEKSANDR BLOK Article 1

The analysis of the image of twelve red army soldiers show the embodiment of Fyodor Dostoyevsky’s ethnotypological discoveries in the poem "The Twelve", the reflection of national consciousness features and character traits that Dostoevsky identified in his works and “The Diary of the Writer”. The traits of such folk types as "the little man", "Russian hooligan", as well as the main features of Russian national consciousness and character presented in Dostoyevsky's works (duality, antinomy, "oblivion of any meas- ure in everything", "the need to heave the hatchet", "the need for negation", "passion for self-destruction") were clearly appeared in the images of the poem "The Twelve" by Aleksandr Blok. In solidarity with Dostoevsky, Blok had asserted that the people had great hidden creative forces, that the Russian people from the depths of fall would risen to the heights of spirituality and new culture, and the community of new people would be formed on the ruins of the "terrible world." The dynamics of the image of twelve soldiers was developed by Blok under the influence of Dostoevsky’s ideas.
