The ideas of integrating the ethnic value-normative system have become relevant to develop- ment of a modern innovative mechanism for creating an educational environment. Folk tales can serve as a guide to the ethnic value-normative system of a particular nation. Ethnoeduca- tional and ethnodidactic functions of fairy tales are based on such characteristics as national- ity, optimism, fascination of the plot, imagery and amusement. The article justifies the di- dactic potential of the plot and composition structures of fairy tales (orientation of the younger generation to overcoming any difficulties during the life course). Representation of the evil spirit in the tales of the Grimm Brothers is studied. Culture-bound terms are isolated from the communicatively oriented context and correlated with the dictionary-reference equivalent. We have emphasized linguocultural components, described the devil's character, represented the space of devil's interaction with people. The elements of the character’s positive connota- tion (intellect and wit, respect for promises, demonstration of love and care for relatives, etc.) enable us to better understand the value-normative system of the German people. This mate- rial can be used in training of future foreign language teachers in order to let them comprehend and accept the linguistic and ethnoeducational heritage of both their native country and the country of the language they study.
