Annotation:
The article describes different aspects of understanding the concept WORK by British linguocultural community. The specificity of the interaction between language and culture is revealed: being a cognitive structure concept has cultural nature. We have identified conceptual areas in the structure of the concept WORK that unite a number of lexemes, concretizing one common notion. The study focuses on lexico-thematic group «hack-work» in the English language, which is pointed out in the conceptual field WORK. The specific for native speakers features of this thematic group are identified: lack of ability and skill, incapability, non- professionalism, incompetence. The research foreshadows cultural peculiarities of the analyzed concept as it is comprehended in the linguistic and cultural community: only qualified labor is of prior importance. It is shown that the essence of the ethnocultural world picture depends on the connotative content of words.
