Annotation:
The article deals with the reasons for appearance of English loan words in the to- ponymy of Quebec, their types and ways of adaptation to the Quebec variant of French language, namely phonetic, spelling, morphological, paraphrasing (folk et- ymology). They include direct lexical borrowings, borrowings of English topofor- mants, or constructions. We also analyze lexical-semantic groups of toponymic Anglicisms. Limitation of English borrowings is one of the tasks of the language policy in Quebec aimed at priority use of Quebec French in provinces. As a result of the inevitable acculturation of Francophones outside French Canada, Quebec continues to be a stronghold of the French language and culture. British and later American English impact on Quebec toponymy is associated with numerous histor- ical, political and social events in bicultural Canada.
