Annotation:
The fundamental components of society such as social being and social consciousness undergo qualitative changes in the transition period of its development. The reflection of crisis processes in social being by the society forms its crisis consciousness. When the crisis becomes protracted and detrimental, the society is forced to critically comprehend the nature and laws of crisis consciousness, since this also determines the strategy for changing the life of society in all spheres of its functioning, and changing the conscious- ness itself. Without understanding the essence of crisis consciousness, a social system will not be able to stabilize social processes and identify possible ways and means of creating effective social organization. In the article we have considered the contradictory processes that take place in various life spheres of Russian society, which contribute to formation of crisis consciousness, and discussed the ways out of the current situation.
