Annotation:
The work deals with the functioning of a zero article in modern French. A zero article is not morphologically marked in the structure of utterances, but it has the specific semantic value and plays an important role in discourse construction. We have noted that in real discourse there are deviations from the grammatical rules. Much attention is paid to aspectual and temporal characteristics of a zero article. We give the detailed analysis of zero articles use with a nominal part of predicate, with names of countries, with nouns denoting age, places names, in the cases of enumeration. In fact, the study has proved that the constructions with zero articles have semantic properties asso- ciated with the meaning of process and specific activity. Derivation of definite and indefinite articles shows the object categorization.
Keywords:
zero article, determinative, discourse, aspectual characteristics, imperfect, temporal characteristics, process.
