The material of the writer's one-act plays of L. Petrushevskaya's reveals a specific - and key for all of her work - as an abundance of literary and mythological reminiscences in thoroughly everyday, exaggeratedly mundane subjects. In all four plays of the cycle, this situation is grotesque-comedic, but gradually reveals the serious meaning of dialogue and action, because the everyday plot is inscribed in universal situations. And gradually the main collision develops into a communicative meeting, when unattractive at first glance, the characters are capable of understanding and responsiveness, albeit distorted and fleeting. At the culmination moment, the moment of heroes' transition to a state close to existential can be seen. In the last play, which gave the title to the entire cycle, the author creates an allusion to the universal formula "The whole world is theater," and this involvement in the action of the bright game, consecrated by the mythological and archetypal foundations of theatrical art, gives the play an essential meaning.
