Annotation:
The article presents self-education as a variant of self-care, individual improvement, cultivation of personal principle and co-thinking with philosophers of different eras through the development and interpretation of the philosophical heritage. With
the development of modern technologies, people get many opportunities to manifest
themselves. But at the same time, it is more difficult for a person to show his individuality, to self-educate.
The article clarifies the concept of self-education, comprehends the features of selfeducation as a type of activity, and defines its goal. It is substantiated that self-education
presupposes a dialogue, and a search for answers to vital questions by referring to the
philosophical texts that make up the philosophical heritage. Self-education contributes to
the preservation of humanity, which gives a person the opportunity to actualize himself.
