Annotation:
The article is devoted to the problems of international migration. We have com- pared two extremely polar points of view on migrants. The first part of the article presents the view on migrants as a category of the doomed, show the structural conditions of per- sonal disasters. A similar view is vividly presented in the works of Zygmunt Baumann, a classic of modern sociology. The second part of the article provides a brief overview of Paul Collier's book “Exodus: How Migration is Changing Our World”, critical remarks about Collier's main ideas. In conclusion, we have defined problems for further research. The changes brought about by migration and migration policy occupy an important place in the fundamental transformations of modern society, and their study requires more effec- tive research programs based on the principles of dialectics.
