Annotation:
The article reviews the features of perception of Vladimir Nabokov’s works by emigrant criticism and Russian literary criticism in the aspect of belonging to the Russian literary tradition. The authors review the question of connection between Nabokov and Gogol, designated back in the 1930s by emigrant criticism. The authors express an opinion on the origins of drawing together writers of different eras, analyzing the main motives of their prose. It is concluded that the interaction of the real and the fantastic, which is characteris- tic of Nikolay Gogol's prose, is manifested in a new way in the prose by Vladimir Nabo- kov, who is attentive to the description of the irrational.
