RELIGIOUS TERRORISM IN THE MODERN WORLD

The article deals with the features of religious terrorism in the modern world, raises the pos- sibility of using the terms «ideology», «pseudo-religion» and «quasi-religion» for modern re- ligious terrorist organizations. We compare modern social manifestations of religious ex- tremism, in particular, non-traditional religious movements and cults with religious terrorist groups, which are called pseudo-religious structures in scientific literature and mass media. The article traces the relation between terrorist organizations and religious fanaticism pro- duction. In analyzing the functioning of pseudo-religious terrorist organizations, we turn to the study of religious fanaticism and the typology of religious fanatics. It is emphasized that generation of neophytes-fanatics becomes the most productive activity of terrorist pseudo- religious organizations.
