Environmental issues are some of the key global challenges of the modern era. In search of theoretical foundations for their views, supporters of environmental morality should turn their attention to Oriental philosophical teachings. First of all, we are talking about the conceptually developed Buddhist philosophy. Buddhist philosophy is the most effective teaching that offers a person an understanding of his role in the system of the universe, corrects his way of thinking and behavior in relation to nature and all living be- ings. Such a practice of education, which is based on the principles of Buddhist compas- sion — bodhichitta, can become a very important tool in developing the ecological culture of all mankind. Development of new thinking and culture should be focused on the for- mation of environmental consciousness. In this regard, an appeal to oriental philosophical teachings can be productive.
