The article analyzes modern forms of addiction. Under conditions of socio- political uncertainty, we recognize doomscrolling as a typical reaction to information ter- ror and manipulation of quasi-social activity. The destructiveness and riskiness of doom- scrolling is caused by the growth of socially dangerous state of the population: manifesta- tion of neuroses, chaotic tension, hyperfixation on disturbing and traumatic events, passive experience of destructive changes. We have determined the connection of doomscrolling with the hyperreality of simulacra and simulations of the socially significant. It is substan- tiated the causal nature of postmodern irrational rationality in the spread and rooting of addictions, including doomscrolling. We have concluded that opposition to addictions is possible through the maintenance of real social contacts, positive egoism, and translation of socially significant goal setting.
