The article explores the historical development of the Russian women's/feminist movement and compares it to the movement in the West. The movement began with the in- troduction of the women's question in the 1830s and evolved into a feminist movement that achieved significant legal victories, including equal voting rights for women by 1917. How- ever, the feminist movement in the USSR was suppressed by the Soviet ideology, which deemed it irrelevant to the class struggle. After the collapse of the USSR and a change in ideology in the late 1980s reignited the push for true equality and a reevaluation of women's roles in society. Since the early 1990s, there has been a resurgence of feminist ideas and practices, similar to the third wave of feminism in the West. The author notes that despite cultural and historical differences, there is a common thread among feminists worldwide: the unjust structure of society towards women. Overall, the article provides a comprehensive overview of the Russian feminist movement and its place in history.
