son‘s sense of self in novel «Patalogies» by Prilepin. The situation of internal con- flict is of great significance; it actualizes new and free from the literary tradition aspects of idea and theme. These aspects are: existential perception of terrible ex- perience combined with the process of personal moral deformation, spiritual stag- nation, revival of animal instincts in a human associated with both natural desire for self-preservation, and with unnatural thirst for blood. In Prilepin‘s novel it is considered as «pathology» of human soul. Metaphysical sense of orphanage in fu- tile war results in estrangement and indifference, inescapable guilt; laugh and fic- tive fearlessness becomes a defensive reaction for these actions. Non-acceptance of violent death and violence appears as the only possible way to moral revival.
