The article deals with the problem of public consciousness of contemporary youth in Mongolia from the perspective of further Russian-Mongolian relations. The study of Mongolian youth’s worldviews illustrates the vector of transformation and the state of civilizational development in the country. It became open to the outside world, political and socio-economic structure is democratic, but the public con- sciousness of young Mongols is not similar to the Western one.

Based on the results of the expert survey on the problem of public consciousness of contemporary Mongolian youth, we have analyzed their attitudes and the peculiari- ties of world outlook. In general, the expert survey is a part of the large-scale study of social well-being, values, attitudes, and worldviews of younger generation of the neighboring country. The results of youth survey analyzes data on the same issues, but received from the expert community. Most of their assessments coincided with the assessments of young people. We have concluded that in the postsocialist so- cieties of Russia and Mongolia, public consciousness is a shade of liberalism and liberal understanding of democracy and freedom that overlaps traditional thinking with the priority of equality and security. While the experts support the belief of liberal ideas deep penetration, they consider that the Mongols manifest mixed val- ue orientations, combining "modernity" and "traditions".
