Annotation:
One of the subjects of much investigation in epic studies is characters, which had been a
part of peoples‘ traditional worldview for thousands of years. Not much is known about
this problem in Manas studies. To reveal the role of characters in epics scientific and theoretical
approaches of the researchers should be investigated. Present study is based on the
text of the epic "Manas" and our own attempts to interpret some characters in it. Thus, we
aim to assess the relevance of this problem in Manas studies and believe that the characters
in the epic "Manas" are a national code and should be investigated in depth to widely
understanding of their meanings.
