Annotation:
The article deals with literary works of the Soviet period as a historical source. The designated
period was the time of serious shifts in the social life of the country, related to the
process of systemic changes in various spheres of society. The author refers to the literary
works of the Soviet era — the novel ―We‖ by E. I. Zamyatin, ―Memoirs‖ and ―Kolyma
Stories‖ by V. Shalamov, ―Avel‖ by V. Grossman. These works of fiction, regarded as a
historical source, have their own specific nature. The uniqueness of fiction lies in its ability
to reflect the subtle, but no less important factors of the historical process. While analyzing
a specific historical period and studying the literature of this period, you can see
and evaluate much more interesting details and facts.
