HISTORY OF ENDOSCOPIC SERVICE DEVELOPMENT IN THE REPUBLIC OF BURYATIA

The article presents the historic review of endoscopic service development in the world, Russia and the Republic of Buryatia, dedicated to the 200th anniversary since the invention of the first endoscope. The modern electronic period began at Bell Laboratories (AT & T), when Boyle and Smith in 1969 created a charge-coupled device. At the present stage of development endoscopy as an independent branch of medicine has 2 directions: intraluminal endoscopy and endoscopic surgery. The first endoscopic studies of the stomach in the Republic of Buryatia were carried out in 1978, when the first fibrogastroscope of the firm "Olympus" was purchased. A huge role in the development of endoscopic service in Buryatia was played by V.M. Kuznetsov, a surgeon, Candidate of Medical Sciences, National Doctor of Buryatia. Currently more than 16,500 studies and up to 400 surgical endoscopic surgeries are performed annually in the endoscopic depart- ment.
