One of the existing options for non-hormonal menopausal therapy is the use of phytoestrogens. However, it should be noted that phytoestrogens in low doses have practi- cally no effect on climacteric symptoms, and in large doses mimic the effect of estro- gens, and this may have undesirable effects inherent in hormone therapy, which is espe- cially dangerous in women with a history of breast cancer. A special place among the means of non-hormonal therapy is occupied by preparations based on extracts of the cimicifuga racemosa plant . The plant substances contained in the rhizome extract of the racemose cimicifuga do not bind to estrogen receptors and lack es- trogenic effects on breast and uterine cancer cells. At the same time, they reduce the fre- quency of hot flushes and are able to counteract the development of osteoporosis. The clin- ical impact of Cimicifuga racemosa is realized through dopaminergic, noradrenergic, sero- tonergic and GABA-ergic effects.
