Annotation:
In the article we have classified the areas of steppe birds using two-dimensional structure with latitudinal and longitudinal parameters. There are 32 nesting typical steppe species in Baikal Siberia. They are classified by 8 areagraphic types. Polyzonal species of Holoarctic, Afro-Eurasian and Palearctic types are relatively few (21.9%) in the region. The other spe- cies belong to subboreal Paleartic, Euro-Asiatic, Trans-Asiatic, Central East-Asian and Central Asian areagraphical types. Central Asian groups of species are most widely repre- sented (50%). Most typical steppe species (84.4%) do not extend or slightly extend beyond the boundaries of Baikal Siberia.
