VAGRANT BIRD SPECIES OF IRKUTSK OBLAST

Based on the analysis of literature and other sources, we present data on 105 species of vagrant birds of Irkutsk Oblast. It should be noted that often vagrant species are heralds of the subsequent range expansion and become nestling in the future. The most of meetings of vagrant species are related to the areas, where ornithological researches has been car- ried out more intensively, so the number of vargant species may indicate the intensity and extent of ornithological study of the territory. In recent years, the majority of vargant spe- cies has been identified in the following areas of Irkutsk Oblast: the coast of Baikal (near Kultuk, Listvyanka, Maloye More settlements, and Baikal-Lena Nature Reserve), Vitim Valley and the vicinity of Irkutsk. We have proved the need to include vagrant species of Russian Red Data Book in regional red data books, in this case a differentiated approach should be used.
