The article traces the situation with wildfires in the east of Mongolia — Vostochny and Su- khe-Batorsky aimags bordering with Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region of the People's Republic of China. The data on fires in the east of Mongolia for the 10 year period from 2007 to 2016 has shown that this two aimaks bordering with China are fire-dangerous. An increased pyrogenic situation occurs in spring, when the steppe vegetation is extremely dry. The most burning Mongolian somons, bordering with China, are Bayantumen, Halkhgol and Madat (Vostochny aimak), Erdenetsagan (Sukhe-Batorsky aimak). The fire-dangerous situation arises in spring after the years with sufficient precipitations which contribute to the development of grass stand. In the spring of the next year the dry rags become highly flam- mable, and can cause fires when carelessly handling fire. The human factor is the main cause of steppe fires. During the most fire-dangerous period it is necessary to strengthen preventive work among the population of the bordering aimaks of Mongolia and China.
