Annotation:
The article contains a faunal list in the form of species-specific outlines on the biology and distribution of 16 species of bats in the Turkestan region of Kazakhstan: the greater horseshoe bat Rhinolophus ferrumequinum proximus, the lesser horseshoe bat Rhinolophus hipposiderosmidas, the Bokhara horseshoe bat Rhinolophus bocharicus, the lesser mouse-eared bat Myotis blythii blythii, Geoffroy's bat Myotis emarginatus desertorum, the mouse-eared bats Myotis mуstacinus przewalskii, the Arabian barbastelle Barbastella leucomelas, Plecotus strelkovi (austriacus, wardi), the common noctule Nyctalus noctula meklenburzevi, the common pipistrelle Pipistrellus pipistrellus bactrianus, Savi's pipistrelle Pipistrellus savii caucasicus, Eptesicus serotinus turcomanus, Eptesicus bottae ognevi, the parti-coloured bat Vespetilio murinus discolor, the desert long-eared bat Otonycteris hemprichi, the European free-tailed bat Tadarida teniotis. We present the reports of encounters of rare species from 37 published sources and an analysis of our own field materials collected during 2001–2021. Many of the rare species have been placed under protection.
