LIFE STRATEGIES OF FAR EASTERN FAMILIES: THE EXPERIENCE OF RESEARCH INTERVIEW WITH RESIDENTS OF KAMCHATSKY KRAY

The article discusses the daily life and life strategies of families living in the Russian Far East, namely Kamchatky Kray. There is a natural and migration decline of the population in the region with reference to statistical data. We have presented the results of interviewing representatives of families living in Kamchatky Kray (N=12). Two conditional strategies are spread among them: firstly, the migration strategy, which is more typical for military personnel and their families, as well as for newcomers leaving for earnings and young people in general; secondly, the consolidation strategy, which is adhered to by the older generation, representatives of indigenous peoples, established professionals, that is, those who have strong social relationships and family ties in Kamchatky Kray and have managed to adapt to difficult climatic conditions, infrastructural and socio-economic constraints.
