Annotation:
The article studies the historical features of the development of internal labour mi- gration on the example of the Republic of Buryatia in the 2000s. We understand the internal labour migration as the practice of leaving for seasonal work among the population of the republic that revived in the 1990s. In the 2000s it has undergone transformation due to changing socio-economic conditions in the region. The article characterizes the types of sea- sonal employment and labour return migration of the population, distinguishes rotation- based work and leaving for seasonal work. Using the example of Bichursky and Mukhorshibirsky districts of the Republic of Buryatia we have described the features and specificity, paying attention to the peculiarities of self-organization of seasonal workers into teams and artels. We also attempted to establish the reasons for the popularity of internal la- bour migration among the population of the region.
