The article is devoted to the linguistic features of the poets ' memories of the second half of the 19th century. Memories-the least studied part of the creativity of the poets in question. The study of autobiographical works contributes to a holistic view of the artistic world of the artist's words, the peculiarities of perception of the world.The image of «I» is the design of autobiographical impulse and autobiographical intention by means of language. In autobiographical prose it arises as a result of self-objectification. As an important linguistic element of the narrative, the pronoun «I» pulls together all intra — and extra-textual connections, creating a special poetics of literature of memories. On the one hand, the narrator plays the role of an active, thinking and remembering subject, creating an autobiographical text. On the other hand, a functioning subject serves as an object of description. The genre feature of the literature of memoirs consists in a special subject-object structure. In autobiographical works, the presence of the narrator «I» is obligatory, because it forms the basis of the memoir-autobiographical genre and as the subject of his story, and as his way, that is, as his object and subject.
