Annotation:
The article reviews the most common cases of lexical synonyms usage in the meaning of direct contraposition. The author claims that the meaning of a word is not an ultimate unit, it falls into minimal seman- tic components or semes depending on each particular speech situation or context, which is the basics for possible using synonyms as means of expressing direct contraposition in particular context.
