SPEECH RATE PARAMENTERS in AREAD ALOUD FICTION

The article is devoted to the study of the speech rate in a read aloud fiction. Speech rate is considered as a universal property of speech and a necessary condi- tion for realization and perception of any speech units and as an integral feature of intonation. The first part of the article provides a brief overview of the literature and methods of research. The second part presents the results of experimental study of speech rate in a read aloud American English fiction. The research allowed to receive data for the analyzed style of speech and compare it with the other data, to determine the percentage of variance of the rate, to analyze the correlation between semantics of the text and the rate, to confirm the effect of the emotional state of the speaker on the speaker s’ speech rate.
