In order to identify the features and differences in the sources of legal regulation we have analyzed each period separately. The ancient period was characterized by the impact of Zoroastrianism associated with the extensive cultural expansion of the Persian Sassanian Empire, as well as the customs of the Turkic peoples. During the period of Islam Shariah rules were a key source of family law. In the Russian and Soviet period legal sphere of Uzbekistan undergone radical changes, its family law was developed on the basis of the Code of laws on marriage, family and guardianship of the RSFSR, and then on the fundamental principles of legislation of the USSR and the Union republics on marriage and family. We pay particular attention to the modern family law of Uzbekistan, its sources, objectives and principles, as well as to the key legal acts regulating family relations, in particular the Family Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Regulations on Medical Examination of Intending Spouses, approved by the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
